MEETINGS ABOUT THE PUREST OF THE COMMON GOODS,
CURATED BY TELMO PIEVANI

Too much or too little. Water, which makes our planet unique in the universe until now, is changing. For long periods it is absent. When she arrives, she is violent. It's cheap and so we remain under the illusion that there has always been, that there is a lot of it, everything we want. Someone has tried to list it on the stock exchange, but it is a common good. Hundreds of millions of people, in the coming decades, will be forced to leave the lands where they live due to desertification or, on the contrary, floods and inundations. Coastal cities are beginning to think about how to reorganize themselves when sea levels are one meter higher than they are today by the end of the century. As Salgado's photos tell without the need for a word, the link between the environmental crisis, global warming and social inequalities passes first and foremost through the resource of water.

Two international meetings dedicated to water and the Anthropocene, mixing the languages of science, art and literature, among the protagonists, in addition to the curator, Andrea Rinaldo, winner of the Stockholm Water Prize 2023 (the Nobel of water).
